About
Why should you trust me?
I’m a Nurse Practitioner by profession, and a teacher at heart! Having been in the healthcare industry for at least a couple of decades, I’ve cared for thousands of patients and taught or mentored hundreds of healthcare workers.
What I’ve learned is, not everyone is prepared for dealing with health issues proactively – enter the “disease care system”.
People who have the best outcomes are those who take actions to preserve their health, whether they are dealing with chronic illnesses or are fortunate enough to have good health.
If you are dealing with serious health issues, I heartily recommend close follow-up with your personal healthcare provider and following their recommendations. Check with them to see if you could be doing more, preventatively, to improve your health.
However, many chronic illnesses are properly called “lifestyle diseases” as they are the result of the habits repeated every day.
Simple reminders to stay well, improve health, and possibly avoid a lifestyle disease include things like:
- Eat right
- Drink water
- Get good sleep
- Exercise
- Follow up with recommended tests and screenings
- Know your health numbers
- Lose weight, if needed
Seems simple enough, right? So, what is the psychology behind people’s attitude toward their health?
If people really believed that their lifestyle and diet impacts their future health, would they try to do things differently?
Change is hard – sometimes nearly impossible, unless you experience a life-altering illness. Even then, sometimes that isn’t enough for lasting change.
If you’ve been looking for guidance to upgrade your health, think about enlisting the help of a coach. I would be happy to discuss your health goals with you. Schedule your appointment with me here.
In good health,
Beth, Nurse Practitioner and Health Coach
